The Pacific Games Council has awarded Samoa the hosting rights to the games, following Tonga's withdrawal from hosting earlier this year.
The President of Samoa’s Association of National Olympic Committee, Patrick Fepulea'i, is confident the country is on track to host the 2019 Pacific Games.
"Normally the successful applicant has seven years to prepare and get the infrastructure ready."
"I think the reason why we won is because we already have everything in place for the 16 compulsory sports. We do not need to build any more buildings. We are good to go," says Fepulea'i.

Samoa last hosted the Pacific Games in 2007 and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi is happy to be hosting it again.
"We already have the facilities which we modernised as late as 2002. Whatever new additions that will be required to modernise, we have funds to carry that out," he says.
The Pacific Games will be held in July 2019.
