In his new role, Ross Ardern will oversee close to $40 million New Zealand dollars in development spending from New Zealand for Tokelau.

Internet and transport connectivity, fisheries and education support are key priorities for the aid support outlined in Tokelau's 21st Fono in Fakaofo last week.

It's hoped Mr. Ardern, who will be based in New Zealand, will make his first visit to Tokelau in early May.

Mr. Ardern welcomed his daughter to Niue last week, in his current role as New Zealand's High Commissioner to the Rock.
