Former Wellington Lions player Losi Filipo is back in the game.
Filipo was sentenced to nine months of supervision after assaulting two men and women in Wellington in 2015.
The 18-year-old took part in the Oceania U20s Rugby competition this week.
He captained the Samoan side and scored a try against New Zealand on Monday.
Manu Samoa manager Ramsey Tomokino says despite Filipo's past he has no problem with his role in the squad.
"Everyone in life deserves a second chance," he says. "We'd love to see him just continue in something he's actually very good at and excel in and become a star in the game."
